Race 2 Kirby Hill
Jamie Sharp takes the win with Scott Thwaites in second and a big gap from the bunch
Race 2 got underway on the lumpy Kirby Hill circuit. The first group away were soon caught on lap 3 of the 7 lap circuit. This still did not deter the youngsters from chasing the prime. John McPherson, Team Chevin. Bang/Olufsen went for the long one 3 miles to the prime line, but with 400metres to go the group closed in on him, with Luke Simpson (3rd) leading out, but with James Wagner taking 2nd. Group 2 did some splendid work holding the front of the race together. Big turns being done by Yorkshire Velo riders, John Woods and Dave Meakin. The Otley team of Martin Tallontire, Tim Howcroft and Ralph Bentley all contributed to keeping the group moving.
The Scratch group showed no smoothness, as they spent lots of time attacking each other, long before they brought the race together with 2 laps to go. First Jamie Sharp, Simon Beldon and Neil Crampton went away. Then Scott Thwaites, Carl Saint and Jamie Sharp all taking turns to splinter the scratch group. It seemed like Jamie Sharp was in every move of the night. When it did finally come together, Sharp went on one of his own sorties but to be caught once again. Then Simon Beldon hung himself out again, only to be passed by Scott Thwaites and the lively Sharp, who opened a lead to the finish of 1minute. 35 seconds, the biggest margin in the 4 years of the series.
First Juvenile Luke Simpson, showed well on a hard circuit.
Carol Barry (1st Lady) also showed well.
In the Team event, Crosstrax lead on the higher placings, but new team Moonglu (2nd) are the surprise getting 2 in the top ten, with Team Chevin Bang/Olufsen in 3rd with 2 points.
