Kirby Hill circuit saw some great racing from the Scratch group, on a dry but windy evening. They were in no mood to hang around, and were flying along to make up the gaps on the 7 lap, 4.5 mile circuit. They were soon to bridge the gap to group 2, but were still 2 minutes adrift of group 1 going into the prime lap on lap 5. Group 1 were working well until it started to splinter on Kirby Hill for the 5^th time, where a 6 man break went clear. By the 6^th lap they had a 52 seconds lead. Marc Help, again in the action, Tony Carter, Joshua Arnold, Steve Girt, Chris Train and prime winner, Giles Dumont. But it didn’t last. With 5 miles to go, the Scratch group brought it all back together. With 1.5 miles to go to the off course finish, Jamie Sharp had a clear lead, and just held on to the finish, with Giles Pidcock in second.

Some notable rides were from Andy Johnson (Mr. Consistency ) who keeps on getting top ten placings, Trevor Larcombe, in 8^th, which throws the over 50’s wide open, with new leader Dave Goodall who finished in 9^th place, but there is also Ian Hagyard and Richard Durham who are all within touching distance of winning the over 50’s.

Iona Sewell in her 4^th race is leading the ladies, with brother Callum leading the juniors and also in 3^rd place overall.

Newcomer, Thomas Warren, 14 years old, gave a good account of himself on a tough circuit, staying comfortable in his group before unshipping his chain on lap 5.
