Race 5 - Walshford
Unlucky Simon Harradine pipped on the line by Giles Pidcock
GILES PIDCOCK WINS,
BUT THE BIGGEST EFFORT CAME FROM SECOND PLACE SIMON HARRADINE
Walshford was the course for the 5th round of the Chevin Cycles race series. A straight up and down course with a hill finish. 2 laps , a total of 29 miles.
The early leader on the road was novice rider Mik Powell, who held the bunch off for 19 miles despite the efforts of Sean Mccarthy, Mike Kershaw and Ian Hagyard to pull him back.
Group 3 was pulled along by good efforts from Mike Cross, Trevor Larcombe and James Gullen. In the closing miles Carl Saint made some big efforts to get clear but the bunch was in no mood to let him go. The best effort came from Simon Harradine, with 2 miles to go he put his head down, and got the gap, but with 10 yards to go he was caught by Giles Pidcock in the sprint for the line.
The
over 50 battle on the night went to Ian Hagyard in 8th place, who
just got it from Tony Carter. See how the overall points have changed.
