Chris Clark and John Watson break away for 1st and 2nd
Giles Pidcock leads the bunch home for 3rd
Group 1 was going well but shedding one or two riders. They were caught on the last lap with 5 miles to go, last time through Bishopwood. A small crash brought 4 riders down but they all managed to finish.
With 3 miles to go Chris Clark and Jon Watson went clear, and finished with one minute to spare. Giles Pidcock led home the bunch in 3rd, with Jamie Wagstaff in 4th.
Clifton cc riders, the “Team Shield” holders had 3 top ten places which shot them to the top of the team standings overall. They were out in force with 10 riders competing.
It was a very good turn out on the night, very cloudy but stayed dry.
The next race, on Milby, could see some changes on the overall, but it does look as though Giles Pidcock has an unassailable lead. If Giles does win the overall lead, then the Vet 40 prize is up for grabs. Phil Bixby being the current leader with Simon Harradine in 2nd. In the vet 50 standings, Dave Goodall is the current leader by 12 points with Clifton rider Ian Hagyard and Teamswift rider Richard Durham in joint 2nd place. The most prime points won so far by a regular series rider goes to Chevin rider Marc Help with Leeds Mercury Seb Horner in 2nd place.
