Race 4 - Milby
A win for Stuart Spencer of Obri Coaching.
The fourth counting event got under way on the Milby circuit on Tuesday night.
The flattish course is 3x9mile laps (approx 28 miles).
A
time gap of 4 and half minutes between the 1st and 4th group left the scratch
group of 6 riders too much to do on a windy night. So unfortunately,
they failed to make much impression. Group 2 were working very hard to
bridge the gap to group 1, by 20 miles the 2nd and 1st groups had
merged, with big efforts being put in by Malton Wheelers father and son
pair of Chris and Charles Goodway, James Gullen (jnr) and stints by the
rest of the group.
Group 3 tried hard to make contact with groups 1 and 2 but were 20 seconds adrift in the sprint for the line.
1st place went to Stuart Spencer by a good 2 lengths on the line, his first series win in 2 seasons.
New
comer to the series, Nick Butcher was 2nd, over 50 Chris Goodway was
3rd with Yorkshire Road Club pair, Mike Kershaw and Russell Brown in
4th and 5th place.
Clifton cc fielded 11 riders on the night and must be contenders for the overall Team Trophy.
