Race 7 - Milby
Junior Matt Shipley wins on Milby.
Group 2 grew wings on Milby, on a dry but windy night. From the gun they went for it, shedding riders along the way. Group 1 were trying their best, but came apart leaving 4 riders in the lead, Tony Carter, Chris Hope, Steve Girt and 16 year old Oliver Webster.
With only 35 seconds between group 1 and group 2, Oliver Webster made his move in a lone break, holding off 23 chasers, until Lee Owen-Stanford launched himself after him. 1 mile later they were all together again with the scratch group still 3 minutes adrift, unable to make any impression.
The main workers to bring about the downfall of the scratch group were Simon Harradine, doing some great stints on the front, with support from Colin Hawxby, Andy Noble, Jonathan Hobson, the ever young 55year old Trevor Larcombe and not to mention winner Matt Shipley.
Steve Whitehurst had the best night, winning the prime and getting 2nd place, gaining 23 points and retaining his 2nd place overall.
All the veteran cats did well, Phil Bixby finished in 4th place , moving him into pole for the over 40’s, could this be a repeat of 2006? Trevor Larcombe in 3rd place looks good for the over 50’s, with the over 60’s to Malcolm Robinson.
