Race 8 - Milby
James Sharp wins. Giles Pidcock takes the series and Clifton CC take the team prize.
On a warm calm evening the last race of the series was held on the flat course at Milby.
With the Croft Circuit series closing the week before, we had rather a large field for an evening road race. We had a lot of unknown (to us) riders it made the handicapping rather difficult.
The 30 miles was completed at a very fast pace, it nearly all came together for a bunch sprint, except for the scratch group who did not quite make it, with the exeption of one rider, Glen Turnbull who managed 5th place. The only vet in the top ten was sprinter Colin Bell a north east rider who came 4th. Clearly there were some very talented riders on the night, which made the scratch group labour.
There were some notable riders further down the field, Chris Hope finishing well up, finding some good form. Chevins Gaby Shaw , 15 year old, is clearly very talented, I am told a Performance Plan Rider. A first time mass start rider, Arny Pearson, at the age of nearly 67, has obviously done a bit of riding in his time.
